01 · The tour

Designed around what you watch.

  1. 00:00

Pick up where you left off.

Continue watching remembers your position in every file and shows a thumbnail of where you stopped. Everything you open lands in Recently added.

ReVLC home screen with a Continue watching row showing progress on the thumbnail, and Recently added episodes of a demo show
  2. 05:33

A library that knows a season is a season.

Add a folder and ReVLC builds a library from it, reading show names, seasons, episode titles and durations from your files.

The Videos page listing a season of a demo show as titled episodes with thumbnails and durations
  3. 15:27

    One menu for everything.

Speed, audio track, crop and aspect ratio, chapters, A–B loop, bookmarks, a sleep timer and deinterlacing. All in a single menu that stays out of the way until you need it.

The player menu open over Westerlund 2, listing playback speed, audio, crop and aspect, A–B loop, bookmarks, sleep timer, deinterlace and snapshot
  4. 27:58

    Up next, your way.

Queue up files and drag them into order, search and sort them, or save the queue as an M3U, PLS or XSPF playlist. Shuffle, or repeat one or all.

The Up next panel open beside a solar flare, listing three episodes, with search, sort, save, shuffle, repeat and clear controls

02 · The details

Everything VLC does well, without the clutter.

  • Chapters, on the seek bar.

See where scenes begin before you scrub, then jump straight to one from the chapter menu.

The Chapters menu listing five chapters with start times, Chapter 05 checked
  • The keys you know.

VLC-style shortcuts you can rebind. Press ? in the app to see them. Try them here.

    Space plays and pauses

  • Subtitles, already on.

They turn on in your system language. Style them with a live preview, and the video you're watching updates as you go.

ReVLC's Settings window on the Subtitles tab, with a live subtitle preview and language options
  • Discs and disc images.

DVDs with their menus, unencrypted Blu-ray, audio CD, VCD, VIDEO_TS folders and disc images.

The Open disc dialog with DVD, Blu-ray, Audio CD and VCD tabs and a Use disc menus option
  • Streams and devices.

Open HTTP, HLS, DASH, RTSP and RTMP streams, or play from a webcam, microphone or your screen.

  • Hardware decoding.

Uses your computer's video decoder for smooth, efficient playback. No codec packs to hunt down.

03 · Make it yours

Your colour.

Choose an accent the first time you open ReVLC, and change it any time in Settings. Go on, try it on this page.

The Welcome to ReVLC screen offering two accents, ReVLC White and Classic Orange, with Classic Orange selected

04 · Under the hood

Same engine. New face.

ReVLC plays media with libVLC, the open-source engine inside VLC, so decades of format support, streaming and subtitle rendering come along with it. libVLC ships inside the app; there is nothing else to install.
